Re: Rolled M3/4
Dave,
Glad to know that you weren't injured by the incident in Turn 4.
Turn 4 is most least favorite at Summit Point, except maybe Turn 10. Your cars have so much
power and stick that when something lets loose, it's not pretty. I have a friend that did a
similar performance in 4/5 - flipping the car end over end 5 times - cold tires, doh! My
personal experience hasn't been with Turn 4 per se but with the chute - nothing like spinning
backwards at 90 mph - facing oncoming traffic - no pucker, just voluminous discharge.
I think the good news here is that you weren't a "newbie" driver and you're willing to tell
others of your experience. What this says to me is that like with anything we do, practice
makes perfect and that regardless of your experience, s__t happens. Even such greats as
Michael Schumaker make msitakes!
Now that you're over the "excitement" of the incident, get back to the track ASAP. If you
obsess over your incident, you'll be forever gunshy. Go back THIS YEAR in whatever you can
get your hands on. The goal won't be to be fast, just comfortable.
For the rest of you with modified cars, remember that slow is a good thing until you know your
car. Just because your car has every bolt-on goodie know to man doesn't mean that the car
will save your butt when you make a mistake. Trust me, it's more fun to abuse the "fast"
cars with a gutless wonder - it's keeps them guessing.
