Hi all,
ACtually, the problem I had was more than a year ago and it was repaired
under warranty.
The problem was from my mom's 94 320i. There was a gradual peeling off from
the lower edge of the tachometer face. First it began as a small peel at
the edge like a sticker losing its adhesion. Gradually in a period of a
month or two, it began to peel off further in a curling fashion.
Eventually, the curling went as far as touching the tachometer meter
needle and restricting it to go any further than 2500 rpm. The curl also
ripped in half as it progressed.
What was interesting was when the car is no the peeling piece would
straighten out, but would eventually curl up when the car is on. I know
this is due to the warming of the tach face when the meter lights are on.
Only then did we take the car to the dealer for repair. The meter face was
replace, or perhaps the whole meter cluster was replaced; not sure. But
even the service rep was baffled by what I was actually describing to him.
He thought this defect was very strange.
I am just wondering if other's have had this problem or perhaps I am the
first =).
