<E30 & E36> question

Hi all,

I have two questions, one for each generation of 3-series;

FIRST:
In my '84 325e (E30) i'm hearing some clatter/rattle noise from 
underneath the car (I think).  This is more audible at cold start, when 
the engine warms up to normal temp the  noise seems to weaken and 
sometimes gone.

I can hear it either when idle or when I lift off my foot from the 
clutch pedal a notch (of course while stepping on the gas).

SECOND:
I saw an ad for a '92 325is.  I don't know much about E36s but can 
sombody give me some info about this?  What should I watch out for, what 
to check and any particular headache?

I'm interested into getting to the next generation of the 3-series but 
i'd love to be more informed first.
