325i Modifications

Hi All.
I have a 1987 325i with 86K on the clock.
I would like to add some mods to it and could use some advice as I'm
completely new to this.

   Wheels: Think I'll keep the stock wheel for now at least  - 14 inch I
   think. I need 2 tyres - what are the best (living in Ireland so a lot of
   rain)
   Brakes: I think the stock brakes are too soft (they're ABS if that makes
   a difference) Would new drilled and groved discs improve things much. If
   so what size can I put on?
   Suspension: I'd like to lower the suspension and uprate the shocks? What
   type are best - Bilsteins?
   Air Filter: Thinking of K&N 57i kit. Will this improve HP etc?
   Exhaust: I would like a sports exhaust - do these improve HP much? What
   type?
   Chip: I was on to a place here and they do "SuperChips" - anyone hear of
   these? He said I'd get a 15 BHP improvement.

I know all this will cost quite a bit but I plan to do it bit by bit. Which
order would be best to proceed
