Power Problem (E30 M3)

Hi
just a few days ago, i noticed my car has been performing funny.
here's the problem

whenever i rev the engine (1st and 2nd gear) up slowly, somewhere in the
region of about 6-7 thousand rpm, i would suddenly lose power for a second
or two and it gets back to normal. last night it did the same thing. i was
accelerating not too fast but in first, and about 6000 rpm, it suddenly
lost power and i immediately shifted to second and it was fine.
i hope someone can help me here.
