<E36 M3> Cold engine stumbles on tip-in

My '98 M3/4 now has 650 miles on it and still has this strange problem...

For a few blocks after starting the engine in the morning, the engine seems
to stumble and almost die if I give it just a little bit of throttle. For
example, backing out of my garage, the engine almost dies. I have to give
it a good bit of throttle (2000rpm+) and clutch slip to keep it going.

I've also tried this without engaging a gear. Sure enough, just idling
after starting the engine in the morning, if I tip the throttle a bit (say,
up to 1 inch) the engine acts like it's going to die.

Anyone else experience this? Needless to say, I'll have the dealer check
this out soon.

Thanks,

John
