<E30><M3> Hard Start Problem

Gentlemen...I am still continuing to have hard start problems with this
1990 stock M3, 47.3K miles.

Replaced so far: Distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, new Bosch sparkplugs

Fuel pressure checked OK, no leak down, pressure held overnite.

Symptom: cold start...simply won't fire until you've cranked it many, many
times. It gives the impression that it is going to fire, then doesn't
catch. Similar to the way small model airplane engines would be fired by
spinning the prop with your finger. When it "catches", it runs great.

hot/warm start...can go either way, start on one crank, or similar to above.

Please remember that cold start isn't really cold...overnight the garage
cools down to low 90's<grin>.

Someone from the digest suggested a potential problem with the crank
position sensor, but I managed to lose his email. Are there other, obvious
to the experienced E30 M3 owner, fixes to this problem? AS for the
sensor(s)...dealer down here is dumb as a rock...anyone know part number
and what kind of money we're talking about to simply purchase and replace?

As always, very appreciative of the vast pool of knowledge that's shared
out there. I've got to get this problem licked soon or I'm going to manage
to get myself stranded on the wrong side of the US-Mexican border.

Thanks in advance,
