Burnishing electrical contacts

Good advice. Even better is a fresh dollar bill.
One time denomination doesn't matter.

If the contacts are corroded (discolored appearance), you should burnish the 
contacts with a piece of stiff paper, business card stock works well. Saw the 
paper back n forth between the closed contacts a half a dozen times or so. 
Follow up with a cleaning.
