I had a similar problem about a year ago. The On Board Computer in my 
car indicated brake light circuit failure. It just came and go pretty 
frequently.  I got my car checked in a local dealer, but they couldn't  
find the problem.  They blamed me because I changed to Euro tail lights 
(the clear ones).  This didn't make sense to me, but they still 
insisted. So, I lost my case.  Later, I brought my car to another dealer 
and they found the problem: it was the circuit/switch under the brake 
pedal. They replaced it for free.  You might wanna check the same 
circuit.
