<E30> Help with SI Problems??

When my service indicator lights would not stay reset, I was advised to
replace the NiCad Batteries on the SI board.

Today, I installed the new NiCads in my SI Board.   Now the Tach doesn't
work-  just jumps between 1-1000 rpm and the mileage indicator is jumping
around. 

Any help would be appreciated - ideas?
