I'll just put my $0.02 in here. Apologies to those outside the area for
the use of the space.
I stopped going to East Bay BMW in 1988, after they:
1) dented and chipped door paint from inside, while changing door lock cyl.
2) paint shop (while fixing above) ruined instrument cluster plastic while
"cleaning" interior.
3) many other cases of multiple trips to the dealer to solve one problem
A friend of mine used to take his 635 to them, until recently when they
diagnosed it needing a new cylinder head, when in fact the valve cover was
just loose (and they had most recently removed the valve cover to do valve
adj!).
I would not recommend East Bay.
Another friend has had major problems with service at Weatherford, including:
(I stopped going in 89, when the service advisors refused to even explain
charges on the invoice).
Documented case of a service advisor caught in flat-out lie regarding a
warranty repair.
Multiple trips to dealer for same problem (parts promised, but not even
ordered) "lip service".
Extremely long waits (hours).
A third friend has had her aftermarket license plate frame thrown away by
Weatherford, so they could install their own logo frame. Also stripped the
fasteners in the front bumper in the process.
Again I give thumbs down to Weatherford (but they have good parts and sales
depts).
So, I'll try to end this on a positive note.
I've had really excellent work done at Concord BMW. Very good service
writers, who can respect a customer with some technical savvy. Technicians
who have solved extremely difficult troubleshooting problems for me.

(PS, two of the three friends above are digesters, who probably missed the
posting).
