<MISC> BMW Recycling & Rebuild Questions

After a couple of weeks seeking advice on my steering 
rack, I have finally come to the conclusion that leaking 
steering racks in E30's are a  common problem atleast
for cars in the '85/6 - '91 range.

I was going through the archives and I found that BMW 
does supply a rebuild kit for E30 racks and it cost about
$70 in 1996. Has anybody had the experience of 
rebuilding their rack or having someone do it themselves ?

Also in the same discussion I came across a post that 
mentioned the BMW recycling plant in Sacramento and 
I was wondering if anyone knows how I might be able to 
get in touch with them. 

Currently I'm managing to get by without my PS as I wait for 
a rack. I disengaged the power steering motor by taking out 
the belt to avoid damaging the PS motor and hopefully by the end 
of this week or the next I should have my rack replaced.
Also got a good tip from the archives about putting in an 
M3 rack if one had the chance to do so. Wonder if anyone
has had this experience had a chance to put in an M3 rack ?
