re: M Roadster vs Boxster

i would think that the M Roadster should be compared to the
forthcoming Boxster S and not the base-model Boxster, yes? a more
viable comparison for the base model Boxster would be the Z3 2.8
(although when the Boxster debuted it was unfortunately compared to
the Z3 1.9 by many car mags- and as would be expected, the Z3 was
found lacking)

so, how does the base Boxster compare to the 2.8?
