Oil filter for 98 M3

Hi all.  I'd like to change my car's oil myself for in-between service
schedules.  I'd like to change oil every 4 ~ 4.5K just to feel comfortable.
What oil filter/s is/are compatible with the BMW oil filter or am I stuck
with using BMW's oil filter?  Also if I do use the BMW oil filter do I need
any special tool, like say, a special wrench.
