Brake Bomb E28

It looks like my brake bomb has gone out on my 85 535i.  Should I just 
follow the instructions in the Bentley manual for removing the
brake flow regulator? or are there any other helpful hints?  ALso,
in bleeding the powersteering system, are there also any helpful hints?
Thanks in advance.  Oh the symptoms, the brake is stiff and has a delay
when I depress it.  Could it be anything else?
