(E30) Starting Problem

Hey all.
I have an '88 325 ix (186,000 miles) which is having trouble starting.
Basically, the engine cranks for 30-45 seconds (sometimes longer) before
it catches. When it catches, it takes a few seconds to smooth out, then
the car runs fine. It does this unless the car is really warm, like I
went into the 7-11 and back out again. There doesn't seem to be a fuel
delivery or a spark problem - the car runs smooth and gets the same gas
mileage it always has. I was thinking it might be the pulse sensor going
bad. I measured the ohms and got something around 80,000 (its supposed
to be around 540). Anyone have any experience with this sensor going
bad?
TIA,
jeff
