Hello All,
I am putting in a new amp (Kicker 35X6) that has input sensitivity of up to
3 volts. My BMW head unit is putting out approx. 5.7 volts to the stock amp.
When I wire up some RCA's as reccommended in several other posts I get a lot
of crossing over into other channels. For example, If I only hook up the
RCA's for the front I will get music from the rear and sub as well. Is the
input voltage too high? My amp does have speaker level inputs, should I use
these instead? Perhaps get a couple of line level adjusters?
I was getting some alternator whine, but was able to eliminate it by
rerouting some wires. My 8 guage power cable is connected directly to the
battery. Another problem is a ticking noise (sounds like a fast clock) when
I play the CD player (Pioneer w/ adapter cable), is this some sort of ground
loop? I tried grounding everything to the same point, using the ground
provided, and grounding to the chasis, but nothing helped at all. Anyone
have any further ideas? By the way, I had the ticking before I replaced
anything at all, just added the CD player.
Thanks for the help!
