I just installed a set of new batteries into the instruments cluster of my
1989 325iC.  Did not charge the batteries prior to installation. 

The Speedo, Tach, Fuel and MPG meter work.  The odometer and trip counter
do not.  Also, the temp guage does not.  The tach is jerky as is the MPG
meter. 

Will these be OK once the batteries are charged?  How long? 

Also, I had read something about an improper ground making the temp guage
fail.  Could someone clarify. 

I transferred the instruments from my 86 325 to the 89 325iC and they
worked, but the tach redlines lower and this is irritating.  Can the tach
be transplanted?  Any other suggestions?
