Does anyone know of a ski rack which will fit on the trunk of
a E36/2 1996 328iC convertible?
A salesdroid in the ski shop told me that Thule and Barrecrafters both
stopped making rear-deck ski racks this year because of complaints
of damage to the trunk. Then he recommended a side-window-mount
rack :)
Has anyone had experience with rear-mount ski or bike racks in
general?
Also, several people were kind enough to respond to my snow
tire question. To summarize: One can substitute any size wheel as long
as the total diameter of the tire is the same (ie, smaller rim needs
a taller or thicker tire) and the wheel clears the brake shoe. Naturally,
different size wheels and tire widths/heights will affect performance,
but, after all, that's the point of the exercise!!
*Everyone* who responded also highly recommended Tire Rack for
their experienced advice, prompt service, and low prices. Several
people also recommended Bridgestone Blizzak (which Tire Rack advertises
heavily) as decent snow tires.
This probably comes as no surprise to longtime readers, but might be
helpful for lurking fellow newbies :)

PS. Can you tell that I like to ski? :)
