Ticking is probably valves in need of adjustment, which is not a big 
deal. BUT given it's an old and cheap car, it is often good money to 
spend $50-60 and have a reputable shop look the car over and give you a 
professional opinion. It's called a prepurchase inspection and it's about 
the best $$$ you'll ever spend to know what your spending lots more $$$ on...
