Yes, I bought one and have it installed in my '90 325iC (E-30). Personally,
I do not recommend it. But, it also depends on you and your car. I'm
6' 4" and drive a stick. The big problem is that the top of the arm rest
is at the same height as the top of the stick shift knob. And, since it's
too far forward, I have to raise my elbow to not hit the armrest. If you're
not as tall (therefore have the seat higher) and drive an auto, it might
not be so bad.
Yes, you need to cut a small bit of carpet from the left (drivers) side
of the parking brake area to allow a bracket to slip under the mounting
bolt.
When you have a drink in the holder, it interfers with the operation
of the parking brake (when you pull up, it hits the soda!).
Also, this armrest is not made by BMW. Some company back east in the
USA made it.
