Alarms

I was at Home Depot last weekend buying a bunch of stuff to build a fence
(wood post hole cement, etc.). As I rolled up to the back of my Range Rover
to unload my cart I hear a "STAND BACK FROM THE VEHICLE..SYSTEM ARMED!" from
a new Jeep parked next to me and I think to myself "What kind of idiot would
buy a talking alarm" and I start lifting the bags of post hole cement off the
cart. I then hear "LAST WARNING BEFORE THE ALARM SOUNDS..BACK AWAY FROM THE
VEHICLE!" and the alarm starts to go off. Of course it was not a regular
siren, but one of the super annoying ones that kept changing. I have never
been so tempted to carve "YOU ARE AN IDIOT" in a cars paint. I had to listen
to the thing for over ten minutes (after it reset it started all over again
with "STAND BACK...") as I loaded up the back and tied the wood on the racks.
I did leave a note telling the guy that his chances of getting his car
vandalized are a lot higher WITH his new alarm and suggested that he bring it
back to the alarm place to stop it from talking. I hope no one on the list
has a talking alarm that will go off just because someone is getting in a car
parked next to them.
