Headrest options on '92 325iAC

My neighbor who is rather short has the above car.  She sits rather
straight up and down to see clearly over the dash.  When she has the
seat back that straight up, the headrest pushes her head too far forward
to the point where it is uncomfortable.  We can raise it _way_ up to
completely clear her head, but that looks rather tacky and isn't really
the best position if she is rear ended (her head would hit the support
bars, not the pad).
Is there some option I don't know of or any good ideas for a fix short
of removing them completely?
