Great Marques @ Old Westbury Gardens

On Sunday, I attendeded the Concours D'Elegance in Old Westbury New York
sponsored by Steve Musolino, President BMW CCA New York Chapter. The
venue was one the most prestigious pieces of aristocratic real estate on
Long Island. The judging covered many fine marques such as Porsches,
Ferrari's and of course BMW. I must admit there was an underepresentation
of BMW's. Some of the fine ones were:

Matt Meng of the infamous "The Little Garage" 1972 Bavaria
Scott Chamberlain - 1972 2002 "Won Best of Vintage Class"
My E21 1980 320i Henna Red "Au Naturel" was entered in the Street Class
and was beaten by an 1989 E30 325is. (Considering there was a nine year
difference in the cars, I was surprised that it came that close! ) I
enjoyed the competition.
The Concours Class Event was won by an E21 1982 320is, that was in
immaculate condition, even the relays were plated and you could clearly
see through the fuse panel cover!!! These folks drove in from
Pennsylvania, as well as another mint 2002. (Do all PA folks have that
much time on their hands, that they build concours winners?..)

Fernando Maldonado of AutoTrend, you will be getting some calls, people
are looking for wheels for their 320i's after seeing the Motoforms rims
on my car. There many E21's in the parking lot that could of
entered.........but didn't.
Perhaps Next Year!!
I thank Steve Musolino and Staff for their efforts!!

I have an 83 320 that I have been restoring, the info. online is great
has helped alot with most of my small problems. I have had a problem
with overheating for sometime now, only when sitting at a light or
waiting
for the bridge ( not on the highway at all) any suggestions on
what the problem might be?? I am the original owner, have about
206,000 miles, otherwise the car runs great. Also looking for a good
BMW mechanic in the South Florida area.
Thanks for all the good advise on sunroofs & tires !!!

(Editor's Note: Kathy, I just went through the same problem this summer.
The problem is airflow through the radiator. You will need to replace it
($175.00 Behr) and I recommend a fan shroud ($20.00). I went one step
further because of the New York traffic and use a 71(deg) degree
thermostat. My temperature gauge rarely passes the 12 O'clock position.
You could go to a salvage yard for the radiator or call Bavarian
Autosport 1-800-535-2002 ask for Tyler - PEC)
