Hi everyone,
I am writing this for a firend, who is internet-challenged.
His car E28, 528i sometimes "backfires" into the intake mainafold when
starting from cold, usually blowing out the pipe that goes to the idle
control device. Last time however, it blew of the bottom plate off the
Air flow meter!!!
What is causing the car to occasionally do this, and can the AFM plate be
screwed into the body of the AFM? It was originally held in place by thin
rivet-type things. are the rivets used to form a "weak" connection, so
that if a backfire occurs it blows off the plate as opposed to blowing up
the entire AFM, or can the plate be simply attached using screws/bolts?
Thanks in advance for any info.
