Wheel lube and AC systems



First: Wheel to hub friction as a torque transfer method?! Um, I
don't think that the mere friction of a clamped joint is enough to
transfer the torque that a car is capable of producing. If it were, I
think you would see single nut retention systems, as used on
touring cars or F1 cars, dispense with the drive pin. Less weight
ya know. I do know that a properly designed lug bolt of stud is
pretty damn strong in shear. As a result, lubricating the wheel
mounting surface should have no effect on the torque transfer
capability of the system.

Second: Since when has R134a been determined to be more
detrimental to the atmosphere? And if it is, how to the entire
refridgeration industry and US governament miss this fact when
it was so easily found on the BMW Digest?
