Why don't some models have any badges?

I have seen some models out there without badges, numbers, etc., and I
can't seem to find any holes indicating that they have been torn
out---I live in D.C. ;)---and I can't detect any traces of filler.
Anyway, why would anyone take off the badges? I'm assuming that maybe
they come that way..... Curiouser and curiouser.... If anyone knows....
