<all> removing tint film from window...

I know I read this a while ago, but I didn't pay much attention to it...so
would someone be kind enough to let me know again...

my friend wants to remove the film from her rear window which has the
defroster.  What's the safest way of removing the film and its residue
without damaging the defroster?  I think I read it in here to use a
mixture of ammonia and water and just wipe it off....Is this the right way
or are there any other methods to safely removing the film?
