318ti CD Changer Install

For some reason, the CD changer in my '95 318ti is located on the 
driver's side (up high, just below the hatch cover that raises with the 
hatch lid, and about midway between the rear seat and rear of the car). 
 There is a round black thing on the passenger side in the same location 
that says something like "Prewired for BMW CD Changer", but that is 
apparently not where the wires actually were (mine was already 
installed when I bought it).
Maybe this is a conspiracy on the part of BMW and the dealers to make 
you take it to them for installation.   :)
