It's amazingly simple to replace the mast if the long plastic cord which is
coiled/uncoiled is not broken in the motor housing:
1. Loosen the mast locknut
2. Turn on radio so that motor fully extends
3. Pull out mast (if you have notches on the plastic cord note the orientation)
4. Put replacement mast w/ proper notch orientation into antenna guide
5. Turn off radio and watch the antenna retract
If the cord has broken off into the motor housing (as was my case) then
you'll have to disassemble the antenna base and remove the old cord. In my
case the old cord was preventing my new mast from fully retracting. Once
the old cord was removed the mast worked beautifully. Hope this helps.
