The lapis blue (dark or midnight blue) paint on my 82 528e (E28, 141K) is fading
badly on the hood and front quarter panels. 

I'd like to repaint the car. I live in NY and am willing to travel to any of the
surrounding states if anyone of you knows of a good establishment. 

I have earmarked about $1,000, is this reasonable.

Any ideas, suggestions and warnings would be appreciated.
