In February I bought an 84 745i with 141K.  Excellent interior, good 
mechanicals (needed front brakes)  Every thing works except Tach and
self levelers.  Good paint but the car was "Keyed" on hood and passenger 
side.   Paid $4000.     Best 4K I ever spent!!    What a screamer!!

$11K sounds awfully high, in fact 7-8K sounds high.  I looked at a dozen 
7-series cars of this vintage in the $3500 to $6500 range.
