E34 535 vs New 528

Hi All --

Can anyone compare the performance of the new 528 with the E34 535?  

I have a '90 535 and I love the power it has, but it's getting a bit
long in the tooth at 125K miles.  I'm considering a new 540 but, from
what I've read so far, the 528 is a better handling and more balanced
machine.  If the performance of the 528 aproaches that of my 535, then
it would have plenty of power for me and I wouldn't have to fork out the
additional $10K+ for the 540.
