New 3-series
The July issue of BMW Car magazine has some interesting computer-enhanced pics of
the new E46. Due to be released in Sept 1997, the Coupe, Touring &
Convertible versions will be out in early 1998. The new Compact come out in 1999
and it may get it's own model name - to compete with Audi's new A3. By the
pics, it looks like a smaller version of the new "5" and it has the snub-nose grill
of the Z3.
The six-cylinder 2.0, 2.5 & 2.8 litre engines will continue, but the 4 cylinder 1.6
& 1.8 litre engines will gain a lightweight aluminium cylinder head. There's also
talk about a high performance diesel engine too!
