wheelbase sedan, so we bought an Audi S4 (100 with a fun engine). If I
couldn't have afforded the Audi, I would have bought a 2 year old suburban 3/4
ton. I saw an accident where a suburban 3/4 ton was involved. It won.
Period. I can live with whatever lack of reliability exists if I know that my

Just as a data point, my Suburbans have been more reliable than anything
else I have owned. The first one (90 and 105K) has zero mechanical
failures and one recall. The second (95 and 20K, too early to tell) has
had zero failures.
Lord knows that they aren't as much fun to drive as the BMWs but I have
found them to be absolutely solid
