Re: bmw-digest V5 #127

Another little anecdote to give you some perspective on your first aid
training, which can be emotional in real-time. While assigned to a Naval
Station on Guam, which has coral based roads not unlike ice when it is
raining. My wife saw a car slide into a concrete telephone pole and
stopped to render assistance. The drivers door was against the pole and
she could not get the passenger door open. She had to perform CPR leaning
in through the passenger door window on this 24 year old, 7 month pregnant
female. It was raining and she was up to her ankles in mud. She got the
heartbeat back on several occasions. Meanwhile at the base (1 mile away)
the ambulance wouldn't start, so she did this for about 45 minutes until
the ambulance finally got to the scene. Young lady and child died on the
way to the hospital.

Bottom line is, you probably aren't going to do CPR or first aid with the
person conveniently laying on their back and plenty of working room.

Also, after seeing the crushed in side of that car, manufactured in the
northern western pacific, we now tend toward European cars. Jim
