I guess this is to Hood's Up:
Are you saying that bimmers stating automatic's shouldn't be dragged?
I've seen a 318 auto pull a 14.2 at sac last year, and at sear's point.
One way to win bracket racing in 1/4mile races is to run an automatic.
The times on a automatic turn out more consistent than a stick. A
properly tuned automatic can easily compete with a stick, being more
consistent. For example, at the last drags, I pulled a 17 flat while a
stick 318 pulled a 16.85. Granted, he must have less mods done to his
car, but the difference is still minor. My 17, which was consistent for
the day, gives more confidence than a higher chance of late shifting.
So you suggest that "power braking" during 1/4mile racing is bad?
Do you recommend shifting in manual mode for best acceleration times?
I want to hear your opinion.
Thanks,
Ruell
