* Remove the pull handle -- 2 Phillips screws.
* Remove the ashtray -- behind it are two more phillips screws.
* Remove the black "cover" on the door (opening) handle -- behind it is a
slotted screw, remove that. Hold onto the plastic "washer".
* Remove the black "cover" on the window crank -- behind it is a slotted screw,
remove that. Hold onto the plastic "washer".
* Unscrew/remove the door lock "button".
* Unscrew the teeny Phillips-head screw that's at the front (or back?) of
the door panel, almost at the top (hidden from view when door is closed).
* Now gently remove the door panel from the door, starting at the bottom
and working up both sides -- BMW uses those little plastic push-in
thingies. It's best to have the right tool ("door trim remover", pretty
generic -- Lisle makes one).
* Finally, whe all the plastic clips are loose, pull the panel up and out
to clear the door lock plunger.
* Note that there is a large spring behind the window crank handle (between
the panel and the metal of the door).
HTH,
