Air Bag Light E-36

I have a question about the airbag light on my 318ti...

I took out my front seat at the 1/4 mile races in sac last sat. I 
noticed that the airbag light on the dash comes on and stays on after I 
start the car for about 4-5mins then goes off. Even with the seat 
back in it stays lit. Yes, I did reconnect the two wires under the seat 
when I replaced it. Does something need to be reset to turn off this 
light? My friend with a ti also experiences the same problem.
