External Temp Sensor

On my 525i it was hidden behind a small panel in the lower part of the front
bumper, just below the front headlights. You should be able to locate it by
the small hole that it "looks thru". It should be connected via a multi-way
connector just inboard of the left wheel arch - difficult to see unless you
are underneath the car. This connector is very prone to dirt, mud and
corrosion. In South Africa many dealers cut it out and solder the wires but I
found it better to strip it out and clean it and use some water-dispersant
lube - WD40 - to get it working again. This problem CAN cause strange
readings - for a few days mine was saying that the temperature was -20 C, a
bit cold for Africa even in winter!!! I hope your car has the same set-up as
