Both feet into MY ABS.

An essential part of a National Capital Chapter driver's school at Summit
Point is the skidpad. All students are scheduled on it, and encouraged to
use any free time to go back down. What I learned about my ABS is that once
the car is sideways (past recovery) I can hit the brakes and lock all four
without too much trouble since they will cross a point of no speed in
either direction as I rotate from forwards to backwards. Once locked the
brakes on MY car stay locked and things work well. Perhaps if your brakes
aren't locking when you stomp them then maybe you had enough forward vs.
angular momentum to recover. Or, maybe my ABS (which works perfectly other
times) is just defective ;^).
