It has been my experience that BMW would not be impressed.

I had a friend, in the '70's, who took a BMW (motorcycle) around the 
world twice in 3 years! He could have written a book! He contacted BMW 
(after the fact) and they sent him back a nice form letter.

Don't call us we'll call you.

Maybe they've changed. But they'd want the body fixed and I don't think 
they'll pay for it.
