Why do they cost so much?

I usually answer by pointing out it's not what you pay, but what you can
sell it for. By this measure, BMWs are probably less expensive than her
'87 Caravan (can you say transmission failure).

You might also reply that the labor required to remove the factory
installed faux wood paneling drives up the cost of the sportier models.
If it were not for this BMW's might be cheaper than caravans.

So this won't be a totally useless post, does anyone know of a source
for OEM colored vinyl paint for a tan BMW interior? I would like to
spray the rear compartment covers of my 635 but I cannot find the
correct color- a good source for BMW paint products would be MUCH
appreciated.

Incidently, if you're thinking of repainting your car, I recommend you
check out DuPont ChromaBase. It's expensive but gives a beautiful
finish and it's not as toxic or difficult to apply as many of the German
brands- it also lasts better in high sun conditions.
