Nate,
Removing the vacuum hose form the fuel pressure regulator should cause the
regulator to increase the fuel pressure from about 40 psi to about 50 psi.
This is akin to full throttle application inwhich manifold vacuum drops to
near zero, thus the fuel pressure is increased to me the demand.
Increasing the vacuum draw on the regulator should cause the fuel pressure
to decrease to slightly below 40 psi, ie. idle condition.
Increasing fuel pressure by 10 psi shouldn't change the idle because idle
is determine by how much fuel the injectors are letting through.
