The head unit in the premium Harman Kardon sound system in 96's E36's is
actually made by Alpine.  I had mine replaced for a decent Alpine CDA 7832 and I
checked the factory unit after it has been pulled out.  There is a sticker on it
clearly identifying Alpine as the perpetrator :).
