<02>1600 driveshaft ULTIMATE QUIZ

Hope I got your attention - sorry for all the bandwidth

The car is a 67 1600 ti that was originally upgraded in 69 with a close ratio
5-speed, stage 2 motor and had the driveshaft shortened and balanced ( I
believe the portion that was shortened, if at all, was forward of the center
bearing - this driveshaft has 3 guibo's, 8-bolt at the trans, 6 bolt in front
of the carrier bearing and 6 bolt at the diff and no u-joints) Due to the
poor condition of the synchro's on the 5 speed, I decided in my grand wisdom,
to opt for the 4-speed which belonged to the 69 2002 I sacrificed to finish
this car (there's no replacement for 2 of everything!). Now, the driveshaft
for the 5 speed is too short to use for the 4 speed (you know, the trans case
for the 5 speed is probably 6+ inches longer), soooooo lets try the
driveshaft for the 4 speed - OK? naaaaaaaaaaa!

OH DRAT - I hate it when a plan flushes itself down the toilet - the
driveshaft for the 02 is much more modern, it has an 8-bolt guibo at the
trans, a u-joint in front of the carrier bearing and another u-joint in front
of a solid 4-bolt mount for the diff

- - here's the question -

The differential I have is one of the OOOLD long necks with a 3 bolt flange!
Plus, it's the only differential I have that's limited slip. The driveshaft
from the 02 has the more modern setup with 4(count em, and yes, I'm repeating
myself) bolts at the aft flange with a sliding spline (note: sliding)
looking in my factory shop manual I noticed in the specs that 2 of the 3
driveshafts listed had a (best as I can describe) a sliding spline (hey, both
of my driveshafts have those, FAR OUT! So, I swapped the back ends of the
two driveshafts andddddd, it all fits just as slick as can be. Now I have an
8-bolt guibo at the trans, a u-joint in front of the carrier bearing, and a
6-bolt guibo at the differential. Can I swap the back ends of 2 different
driveshafts without having to have the entire (trans to diff) driveshaft
BALANCED!???? (Note: any balancing weights on the two respective shafts are
on the portions aft of the spline)

As I have been slaving over this monster for the last month almost every day,
ordered too many parts, etc. IT'S TIME TO GET THIS MONSTER ON THE ROAD and
NOW.
The 45DCOE's will be rebuilt and ready to synch and run thru emissions on
Saturday and if I need to pull this monster to go to the machine shop, I
really need to know now.

Everyone on this mailist has been great with my previous question - lets see
what you come up with this time - oh, before I forget - The mechanical clutch
was assembled last Saturday and everything fits just like it's supposed to -
thanks for everyones help - I got 4 super responses.
