yes.

Never assume anyone knows anything. You can question if they know that 
it's nitride treated and what the procedure for handling a nitride 
hardened crank is. Most machine shops understand the basics, and at least 
you should get an intelligent answer.

Whoa, bunch of miles here. The motor is apart - that's the biggest pain in 
the ass. I'd have the crank and rods magnafluxed, and do a line bore on 
the block and check the crank runout (straightness). At least discuss 
these with your machine shop and see what they recommend.

If it was my motor, I'd have it balanced and blueprinted. I had a Korman 
Stage II balanced and blueprinted which ran quite smoothly - more 
so than my previous motor.
