Flexible brake lines

All this talk on plugged flexible brake lines prompts a comment
and a question...

I remember reading somewhere that rubber lines should be
replaced every several years because the rubber tends to swell
from exposure to brake fluid - maybe that is what is clogging your
lines rather than gunk?

Is there any reason to periodically replace stainless/teflon
flexible brake lines? I assume that the teflon liner is pretty
impervious so that as long as the stainless braid is in good
shape there is no reason to replace them. Right - Wrong?

thanks,
rick
