Moving from Europe to the US: import a Bimmer?

There is a *remote* chance that I may be moving to California next
year. I was wondering if anyone knows my chances of being able to take
a Euro M3 with me. What would have to be done to make it "street legal"
in the US?

Failing that, would I be able to buy a US spec M3 on the Euro delivery
program while I'm still here in Europe?
