Misc. Ramblings
Hi everyone, hope the holidays are treatin' you well. I'm a new subscriber to
the list and really like what I see so far. I purchased a '94 325is last
January, and besides a minor door latch problem (which was quickly fixed),
there's been no problems for 18,000 miles (knock on wood). This car has been
just tremendous. I love it.
After about six months, I added an Autothority chip and the flow tech air
intake system for about $475...this definitely beefed up the performance
(according to Autothority, the car now makes about 214 hp -- up 25 from the
stock 189 -- with improved low-end tourque). Who cares about the
stats...this car went from quick to Extremely quick, especially at 3600 -
6500 rpm. Best of all, ahead of time, my dealer gave me the thumbs up on the
upgrade... saying "hey, lots of folks do it, and we've never had any problems
(warranty conflicts) with folks that have gone with the good software
upgrades (dinan, autothority etc...)...just don't put Regular gas in
it...gotta have 92 or better."
Oh yeah, I was at the dealer recently for scheduled maintnance and spied the
95 325is. While the engine is unchanged there were a couple little
additions. Here's the new stuff:
+ a "better" green is available;
+ Side marker lights -- like on the M3 are now on all 3mers;
+ Cupholder-ash tray-change dispenser -- is now integrated into the center
console (this is the exact same add-on that you can buy at the dealer or in
Roundel for your '92 - '94 3 series);
+ nice 16 inch wheels for the 325is when you get the sports package (almost
as pretty as the BBS Moda 16" M1's);
+Walnut trim that actually looks good (only in the 325) when you get the trip
computer;
One thing I would really like to see is traction control available WITH a
limited slip rear (like the 8 series) but I guess that would get too costly.
Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! Cheers.
